Cash Equities 2nd Line Application Support Analyst - London - Perm

Our client is a top tier Investment Bank who are looking for a 2nd Line Application Support Analyst. The main duties of this role will be:
· Provide support for mission critical Equities Cash Trading Technology in London
· Assist the level 1 team, where appropriate, with trade floor support to Equities traders covering cash, programs, futures, risk and middle office system
· Develop specialist knowledge in relevant systems, sharing that knowledge, as required, with global teams
· Liaise with internal traders and sales on potential process improvements
· Liaise with development teams on day to day issues, change requests, functional improvements and future applications
· Take ownership of problems through to resolution or escalation, as appropriate
· Pro-actively improve the quality of systems and services, and increase business value
· Undertake projects as required, including, but not restricted to, the following areas: - capacity and performance management, monitoring initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, web based tools, reporting and documentation
· Uphold and champion policies, procedures and standards
· Participate in the problem management lifecycle, tracking and driving issues through problem resolution to controlled change.
· Take an active role in the release and change management process, ensuring the stability of production systems are maintained at all times and change procedures are appropriately efficient and controlled. Participate in release cycle including actively managing releases, post implementation testing and supporting systems post change.

Experience Required
Listed Equity Markets technology experience in a related front-office application support role within investment banking.
Experience of working with traders face to face
Listed Equities product knowledge preferred.
Experience Preferred
Cash and Futures markets understanding.
Skills / Aptitude Required
Supporting a Windows based infrastructure.
Practical knowledge of FIX.
Exchange Connectivity (LIFFE, EUREX, CBOT, CME, LSE, XETRA, NYSE, etc)
SQL (Sybase / Oracle)
General infrastructure knowledge: the ability to troubleshoot latency issues
Excellent communicator, good with users, able to work well in a cross-disciplined team and alone with minimum supervision.
Pro-active, thorough, organized and energetic.
Excellent problem solver with a commitment to thorough root cause analysis and business process improvement
Skills / Aptitude Preferred
ITIL knowledge
Microsoft Windows
PL/SQL
CGI Scripting/HTML
VBA
Scripting (e.g. Perl/shell, JavaScript, vbscript)
